Amy has been in the field of Mental Health since 1991 after obtaining a Bachelors degree from Winthrop University. In 1998, she received a Masters degree from Clemson University in Guidance and Counseling and later became licensed as a Professional Counselor by the SC Board of Licensing and Regulation. During her 20 years in the field, she has worked within a broad range of agencies including Carolina Behavioral Health and AnMed Health Wellspring, gaining experience in both inpatient and outpatient mental health treatment. She is the only Licensed Professional Counselor in the Upstate that is also a Certified Addictions Counselor; therefore giving her a unique perspective on those with both mental illness and addiction issues and the dually diagnosed.
It was during her 5 years of employment in the AnMed System that she gained a desire to assist patients continue towards success after hospitalization. That desire led her to full time private practice in September 2009. Since that time, she has been able to experience her role as counselor more fully by engaging regularly with her patient’s and helping them to maneuver the “bumps in the road” that lead to a successful productive life.
